Inspiration can be found in the oddest places. For Zoe it was in prison, during an 18-month term when she wrote more than 150 poems focusing on the abuse she endured as a child and the drug addiction she overcame as an adult. These poems paved the way to create a book of healing and empowerment. The themes of each poem were derived from major life events that reflect her strength and incredible resiliency. Many of her works echo the emotions and attitudes of the countless women who have faced adversity. It became important for Zoe to describe the birthplace of her poetry. What began as a labor or love developed into her first book entitled Poetic Recovery/ Life Don’t Rhyme a memoir. Zoe credits much of her success to a not for profit organization known as Dress for Success. Since her release from prison she has become an active participant and a member of their Professional Woman’s Group. Through this organization she has been featured on such television shows as NBC’s Today Show, Iyanla Vanzant’s Show, CNN, and Life and Styles with Kimora Lee Simmons. Recently Zoe is worked with the QVC network and Bobbi Brown Cosmetic to bring attention to Dress for Success by sponsoring the first National Makeover Day. She has also achieved her credentials as an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor and is presently an Assessment Specialist for a not for profit agency in Manhattan. Zoe is available for seminars, workshops and speaking engagements.
